About Us
Story of How IntroSign Started
I myself am deaf and have experienced the barriers that we as the deaf community face daily. Through a recent experience of mine with a bank, my business account was blocked due to me not being able to communicate with them over the phone, I felt very frustrated that the bank did not understand my communication needs and directly discriminated against me for being deaf.
I was using a Communication Support Worker to help me resolve this issue on my behalf over the phone and again there were more barriers put in my way to resolve the issue. My Communication Support Worker then had to fight for my rights and challenge the bank against this direct discrimination and the situation was eventually resolved. This whole experience made me understand the importance of BSL Interpreters and Communication Support Workers for our community in our everyday lives.
I decided to set up IntroSign after becoming tired of the constant barriers and companies not understanding our communication needs.
IntroSign is completely focused on improving communication for the deaf community by providing all interpreting services which include, CSW's, BSL Trainee/Qualified Interpreters, Deaf Relay and Notetakers. These professionals can all help us bridge the gap and resolve our communication needs/barriers.
It is our right to choose whom we have communicating on our behalf.
